Nature of injury refers to the type of injury that happened to the injured worker regardless of the cause or body part. The following charts display the top 10 “nature of injury” classifications found in the WC Division’s injury database for 1999, 2000 and 2001. You will note that strain ranks first for all three years. Lacerations rank in the top three for two of the three years. Then the varied nature of occupations in the agricultural category resulted in a mixture of injury types for the three-year period.
