The Corporate Safety Awards are co-sponsored by the Wisconsin Council of Safety and the Department of Workforce Development. The prestigious Awards are presented annually to those businesses that have the lowest injury incidence rates in the calendar year and the most outstanding information on safety and health procedures, policies and accomplishments. An independent panel of safety and risk management experts judges the information and selects the winners. The Classification Categories are:

Type Classifications:

Category A • Manufacturing — SIC Codes 20-39 (except 24)
Category B • Agricultural, Forestry, Transportation, Mining and Utilities — SIC Codes 01, 02, 07-14, 24, 40-42, and 44-49
Category C • Construction — SIC Codes 15-17
Category D • All Others

Size Classifications:

Category I • Less than 100,000 actual payroll hours*
Category II • Between 100,001 and 400,000 hours*
Category III • Between 400,001 and 1 million hours*
Category IV • Greater than 1 million actual payroll hours*
