AZCO, Inc. is a full-service industrial prime contractor. AZCO's integrated construction capabilities allow the company to excel in new construction, plant maintenance, major plant shutdowns and utility outages. Its primary markets include fossil fuel power generation facilities, metal casting firms, food and beverage plants and pulp and paper manufacturers. Its scope of services includes power and process pipe erection and fabrication, equipment moving and erection, boiler erection, and rebuilds and foundry services.

The company's construction services are backed by the latest computerized technology, management training, internal safety and quality control programs, and automated fabrication facilities. AZCO has made a total commitment to providing a safe workplace for its employees.

AZCO has implemented safety policies and procedures that are designed to help the company achieve its zero-injury goal. The company creates a supervisory attitude so all employees accept the zero-injury philosophy, believe all injuries are preventable and that they will do whatever it takes to prevent an injury. The company also works to alter worker perception to eliminate complacency in regular job duties.

The pre-job kick-off meeting allows the company to identify and resolve potential safety hazards. A site specific safety plan is then created, implemented and provided to all employees and subcontractors. Employees are encouraged to identify safety concerns and assist in the elimination of any hazards. Supervisors are directly responsible for eliminating pending concerns and immediately correcting existing hazards.

In 2001, AZCO developed a cause coding system that aids in the determination of the root cause of incidents and injuries. All injuries, near misses and incidents are equally weighted in the system. The system assists investigators in determining the cause of a specific incident, helps them locate negative trends and take appropriate corrective action to eliminate future incidents.

In May 1999, AZCO adopted the zero-injury approach. Today, its safety management and success is measured by the length of time the company is injury free. Because of AZCO's strong safety plan, employees have a better understanding that providing a safe workplace can dramatically increase both production and quality of work.
