Additional Construction Specific Injury Data

Construction is one of the most hazardous professions. There are a variety of reasons for this. As you build a project, the construction site changes daily; project workers change; building materials are moved by heavy machinery or by hand; and temporary power sources and scaffolding present unique dangers for workers. In Wisconsin approximately 11% of all fatalities and 12% of all compensable worker’s compensation claims come from construction injuries.

Statistics for the past three years on the cause and nature of injuries and about which body parts are affected are available below. These statistics are based on claim data entered in the WC Division’s injury database for the years 1999, 2000, and 2001.
