SERVICES > INJURY DATA: RETAIL TRADE

Retail trade occupations have an injury rate of 5.9 cases per 100 workers. These injuries are primarily strains and sprains. Lifting and slips or falls are the major causes of these soft tissue injuries. Employers should identify and eliminate hazards in the workplace – a good housekeeping system to prevent slips and falls is part of an effective safety plan.

Statistics for Wisconsin for the past three years on the cause and nature of injuries and which body parts are affected are available below. These statistics are based on claim data entered in the WC Division’s injury database for the years 1999, 2000 and 2001.
