The service industry consists of occupations ranging from fast food establishments to personal health care facilities to retail and wholesale trade. Throughout the service occupations the major cause of injuries relates to lifting and slips or falls. Lower back injuries rank first in many of the service occupations, and falls cause 14% of all on-the-job injuries each year. Regular education or instruction on the correct and safe way to perform job duties could help prevent many of the on-the-job injuries in the service industry.
