SERVICES > INJURY DATA: WHOLESALE TRADE

The wholesale trade area of the service industry has an incident injury rate of 5.9 cases per 100 workers. Soft tissue trauma (strains and sprains) continues to be the leading cause of injury in every major industry. Of all injuries, overexertion in lifting accounts for about 25% of these soft tissue injuries. Education on safe work practices could lower worker’s compensation costs for the employer and eliminate pain and suffering for the wholesale trade worker.

Statistics for Wisconsin for the past three years on the cause and nature of injuries and which body parts are affected are available below. These statistics are based on claim data entered in the WC Division’s injury database for the years 1999, 2000 and 2001.
